Simple Tips For Protecting Your Ford In The Summer

The summer season is in full effect, which means more time spent traveling outdoors. With the unrelenting heat, it is significant for one to take care of their car. Excessive warmth can cause wear and tear of your vehicle and could cost you dearly. Read on to learn some tips for protecting a Ford in summer.

            1. Avoid parking in the sun.

The first fundamental rule of thumb is to avoid too much sun exposure. When we are driving, it has already been under the sun for many hours. Therefore it's preferred that you choose to park in the shade whenever possible. Doing so can avoid excessive heat damage to the paint and metallic parts.

If you have to place your car in the sun, invest in some windshield sunshades to protect your steering wheel and dashboard from the harsh sun rays.

            2. Check your air conditioning.

Since you will be typically using your AC more than usual during the more recent summer months, it is important to properly keep it working well. If you instantly notice hot air or irregular flow patterns emanating from your AC, it could be leaking. Visit a servicing center to check up on your air conditioning.

            3. Tire pressure

Excessive heat increases the pressure on the tires. Ensure you always keep a spare tire in case of any tire blowout or damage. Maintain a regular check-up of your tires to ensure there is no damage caused due to over-inflation.

            4. Windshield wipers

The harsh sun can cause too much wear on your wiper’s rubber material. This can impair its functioning and cause it to malfunction when you might actually need using them. If you notice any damage on your wipers, consider them to be replaced immediately.

            5. Engine and battery maintenance

Too much heat can cause your engine's fluid to evaporate instantly, thereby diminishing the battery life of your car. Check the fluid levels on your power steering, brake, and transmission to ensure they are in order.

It is most important to maintain your car clean and well-maintained during the summer.
